Hourly = Annual Salary ÷ (Hours per Week × Weeks per Year)
Annual = Hourly × Hours per Week × Weeks per Year
Examples: $50,000 ÷ 2,080 = $24.04/hour. $20/hr × 2,080 = $41,600/year.

The math needs two things: your annual salary and how many hours per year you work. For a standard US full-time job that's 40 hours per week for 52 weeks (2,080 hours).
Hourly = Annual Salary ÷ (Hours per Week × Weeks per Year)
Annual = Hourly × Hours per Week × Weeks per Year
Examples: $50,000 ÷ 2,080 = $24.04/hour. $20/hr × 2,080 = $41,600/year.
Divide your annual salary by 2,000 (instead of 2,080) for a quick estimate. Off by about 4% but easy to do in your head. $60,000 ÷ 2,000 = $30/hr (actual: $28.85). Reverse: multiply hourly by 2,000 for an annual estimate.

Your contract says 40 hours a week. But for most salaried workers, the actual time spent on work is higher when you factor in unpaid overtime, commute, and work prep at home. When you back out work-related costs, the effective hourly rate can be meaningfully lower.
True Hourly = (Annual Salary − Work-Related Costs) ÷ Actual Hours Worked per Year
Actual hours = contracted + unpaid OT + commute + work-from-home prep.
Work costs = commute (gas, transit), wardrobe, work meals, licenses, home office.
Salary: $75,000. Contracted: 40 hrs/week. Actual: 47 hrs/week (7 unpaid OT). Commute: 1 hr/day × 250 days = 250 hrs/year. Total: (47 × 52) + 250 = 2,694 hrs.
Annual work costs: $4,800. Net salary: $70,200. True hourly: $70,200 ÷ 2,694 = $26.06/hr. Contracted rate was $36.06/hr. The true rate is 28% lower.
This is why remote and short-commute jobs often pay more effectively than their salary suggests.

$50,000 per year works out to approximately $24.04 per hour at 40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year (2,080 annual hours). Monthly: $4,167. Biweekly: $1,923 per paycheck.
$60,000 per year equals approximately $28.85 per hour. Monthly: $5,000. Biweekly: $2,308 before taxes.
$75,000 per year equals approximately $36.06 per hour. Monthly: $6,250. Biweekly: $2,885 before taxes.
$100,000 per year equals approximately $48.08 per hour. Monthly: $8,333. Biweekly: $3,846 before taxes. Almost exactly $48/hour at standard full-time hours.
$20 per hour equals $41,600 per year at 40 hours/week and 52 weeks ($20 × 40 × 52). Monthly: ~$3,467. Biweekly: $1,600.
$25 per hour equals $52,000 per year at standard full-time hours. Monthly: ~$4,333. Biweekly: $2,000.
Standard US full-time work year is 2,080 hours (40 hrs/week × 52 weeks). With 2 weeks unpaid time off: 2,000 hours. Contractors typically use 2,000 for simpler math.
Biweekly = every two weeks (26 paychecks/year). Semi-monthly = twice per month, typically 1st and 15th (24 paychecks/year).
Annual total is identical. Biweekly paychecks are slightly smaller (annual ÷ 26 vs. annual ÷ 24).
Neither is inherently better. Salaried roles offer more stability and often better benefits, but unpaid overtime means extra hours don't pay extra. Hourly offers transparent compensation and overtime pay over 40 hrs/week.
